About the RoleMirbeau Inn & Spa is seeking a skilled Pastry Assistant to join our back-of-house team. As a Pastry Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our pastry department.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation and Presentation: Effectively set up bakery products for the resort, ensuring that all dessert items are adequately stocked and presented to the highest standards.
- Daily Menu Management: Check daily dessert menu items, introducing new specials as per recipe standards and ensuring all prep work is ready for service.
- Communication and Coordination: Maintain effective communication with the Pastry Chef/Chef de Cuisine/Executive Sous Chef for any changes to the dessert menu, ensuring all ingredients are available for dessert preparation.
- Quality Control: Prepare all dessert items in accordance with Mirbeau recipes and specifications for all outlets in a timely manner, maintaining a high degree of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Inventory Management: Properly handle and store desserts to prevent spoilage and waste, assisting the Pastry Chef/Chef de Cuisine/Executive Sous Chef with ordering of specialty bakery products.
- Special Occasions: Prepare desserts for all special occasions, weddings, birthdays, etc. for the Catering Department.
- Continuous Improvement: Perform any other tasks as directed by the Pastry Chef/Chef de Cuisine/Executive Sous Chef, defining and recommending ideas to improve the productivity of the pastry department.
- Certified Culinary Training: Must be a certified culinary-trained Pastry Chef with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the Pastry department of a hotel.
- Product Knowledge: Familiarity with product quality, bakery equipment, and preparation methods necessary.
- Team Player: Ability to be a team player and work well under pressure desired.
