Job Title: Gastroenterology Section Chief

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a highly qualified Gastroenterology Section Chief to lead the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition. The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical practice, teaching, and research, with a proven track record of leadership and management experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, providing strategic direction and oversight of clinical, educational, and research activities.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve patient care, quality, and safety, and to advance the field of gastroenterology.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to promote a culture of excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Develop and manage budgets, resources, and personnel to achieve divisional goals and objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in gastroenterology and hepatology, and apply this knowledge to improve patient care and advance the field.
Requirements:
  • Board certification in Gastroenterology.
  • At least 10 years of experience in an academic institution, with a strong background in clinical practice, teaching, and research.
  • Proven track record of leadership and management experience, with a strong ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment, with a strong commitment to promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Experience with budget management, resource allocation, and personnel management.
  • Experience with quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Experience with research and scholarly activities, with a strong ability to publish and present research findings.
