About the Role

Clemson University is seeking a highly skilled Pre-Construction Manager/Cost Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for leading the estimating portion of the pre-construction process for all capital projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Data Administration:
    • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects
    • Create and maintain a clear and informative tracking system to compare actual project costs to estimated project costs
    • Document and report on relevant market trends and changes to senior leadership
  • Cost Estimating:
    • Update estimates at required milestones
    • Forecast significant changes to senior leadership
    • Continuously review construction trends and attend professional development opportunities to ensure budget and estimating assumptions remain up-to-date and consistent with market trends
  • Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Review and analyze project plans, requirements, specifications, proposals, or other scope documents required to create accurate conceptual estimates
    • Participate in value engineering exercises at key milestones in pre-construction
    • Participate in the construction bid solicitation process
    • Review and negotiate/ensure accuracy of the final construction cost
Requirements
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business/Management, or related field
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in construction and management
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of cost management principles and practices
    • Extensive experience in conceptual estimating, construction cost estimating, bidding, quantity take off, and budget development
Working Conditions
  • Work Schedule:
    • Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Work Hours:
    • Standard Hours: 37.5
  • Salary:
    • Expected Salary Range: ($80,000 - $95,000.00)
