In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Strategy teams to articulate and propel the vision for developing various data transformation, loading, and bi-directional integration services as integral components of our system. The aims are to: 1) effectively manage the ever-evolving, high volumes of intricate data while ensuring precision, security, and dependability, 2) expedite our clients' transition of their core operations onto our platform, and 3) create a top-tier enterprise API strategy. This role reports directly to the VP of Platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide business insights, technical proficiency, and best practices to the cloud platform, data, and integration teams where design, strategy, product management, and engineering work in close collaboration.
  • Steer technology choices for a data orchestration engine that accommodates various types of inbound data files, linking our platform and applications to the investment management ecosystem.
  • Deliver an integration service that facilitates custom and reusable interfaces to popular third-party systems within the asset management sector using a common integration framework.
  • Consider all users and use cases of the data and integration services when making critical product and technical decisions.
  • Assume comprehensive responsibility for the technical aspects and data flow within a complex system, encompassing product, infrastructure, security, and quality.
  • Mentor, coach, and manage multiple engineering teams responsible for delivering a high-performing, secure enterprise data and integration service.
  • Lead the entire software development lifecycle: from requirements and design evaluations to technology selection and implementation through to production support.
  • Engage in discussions regarding career development and performance that align business objectives, key results, and individual career aspirations.
  • Utilizing organizational design methodologies, oversee resource allocations for product engineers and monitor the completion of deliverables for each team.
  • Influence the evolution of a tech stack based on contemporary front-end frameworks and efficient utilization of cloud services.
  • Build a diverse technical team while promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure strong connections within a multi-location organization, bridging our product and engineering teams.

Required Experience:

  • Extensive expertise in developing and/or utilizing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), integration, and cloud data migration technologies.
  • Experience with investment management applications, including accounting and performance data.
  • Proficient in addressing complex data challenges and near real-time data delivery.
  • Understanding of instant data validation, receipt of data files, and data message delivery.
  • Familiarity with industries that have regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring reliability and consistency of historical data.

Preferred Skills:

  • 8+ years in software engineering or architecture, with a management role leading teams, including experience supporting both managers and individual contributors.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Python, GraphQL, and related modern cloud development technologies.
  • A proven track record in architecting and designing large-scale data volume products and technologies in the cloud.
  • Experience in data science and machine learning is advantageous.
  • Engages with stakeholders to comprehend the business challenges that require resolution with an entrepreneurial approach.
  • Ability to support both managers and individual contributors while maintaining awareness of team dynamics in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Capability to lead and influence both with and without formal authority.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and architectural patterns.
  • Ability to balance short-term deliverables with a long-term strategic vision.
