Corewell Health's 7th Floor Meijer Heart Center is a 46-bed unit that provides specialized care for cardiothoracic patients after surgery. Our team of experts focuses on both cardiac and pulmonary care, as well as transplant care. We admit post-surgical patients on the day of surgery, after the cardiovascular recovery unit, or from the Cardiothoracic ICU, depending on their procedure and clinical needs. If a patient requires intensive care, they are transferred to the Cardiothoracic ICU and return to us when their condition has stabilized. Our patients are complex and require medical, physical, and emotional support. This is an exciting unit to work with each shift, providing clinically complex care for patients with high acuity needs, such as drains, wounds, high-risk medications, and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader, utilizing the framework of the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge.
- Partner with patients and families to develop and implement individualized care plans, incorporating patient-centered care principles.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Document education and learning in the patient's health record, ensuring accurate and timely communication.

Requirements
- Associate's degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years.
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months.
