Job Summary

The Life Skills Technician-PRN will provide direct care to brain-injured clients, focusing on physical restoration, cognitive restoration, behavioral difficulties, nursing needs, recreational needs, and activities of daily living. This role requires a high level of compassion, patience, and understanding of the needs of individuals with brain injuries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report client functioning to shift supervisors and Program RNs
  • Implement treatment plans through completion of scheduled client activities
  • Participate in behavior modification programs to promote socially acceptable behavior
  • Assist with specialized aspects of patient care under the supervision of the Program RN
  • Work directly with assigned clients to achieve treatment objectives
  • Complete accurate records to ensure correct documentation
  • Participate in staff meetings and inservice educational activities to enhance personal growth
  • Competently complete all aspects of patient care, including age-appropriate techniques for ADLs, mobility, transfers, hygiene, toileting, bathing/showering, hair cutting, recreational activities, and use of adaptive devices
  • Participate in daily staff assignments, such as client activities/outings, meal preparation, patient feeding, laundry, supply ordering, grocery shopping, client rounds, bed changes, and patient bathing
  • Follow policies governing use of company vehicles and transporting of clients

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED
  • College credit hours related to brain injury, rehabilitation, or other human services courses preferred
  • Interest in neurologic rehabilitation preferred
