Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Operator to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for operating a forklift in a safe and efficient manner, transporting merchandise and materials throughout the club, and assisting with the loading and unloading of delivery trucks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner, inspecting it prior to use and following established safety standards.
  • Load and unload merchandise and materials to and from delivery trucks, inspecting and preparing delivery trucks for unloading.
  • Accurately receive all merchandise and materials delivered to the club.
  • Lift, reserve, and drop pallets of merchandise to and from the overhead steel and the sales floor, preparing pallets for safe reserving by wrapping, strapping, stacking, labeling, and correcting broken pallets.
  • Transport merchandise, material, and pallets safely throughout the club, utilizing a pallet jack as needed.
  • Stock, rotate, and store general merchandise and food merchandise, ensuring that merchandise is fully stocked and handling damaged and spoiled merchandise in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the club is neat, clean, and organized, performing general maintenance duties including removing trash and cardboard from the club.
  • Participate in daily club openings and closings, returning merchandise back to the sales floor.
  • Greet all Members, providing them with prompt and courteous service and assistance, and assisting Members in locating merchandise.
  • Maintain all club policies and procedures, performing other duties as assigned and working in other departments as needed.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Prior forklift operating experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must successfully complete required training and certification processes.
Work Environment

The majority of the time will be spent standing and moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds, and may require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.

Usually in a comfortable environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. Occasional exposure to temperature extremes in freezer or cooler units, and there may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
