Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled and experienced Advanced Imaging Specialist to join their team in Roanoke, Virginia. This is a 13-week travel assignment, working 36 hours per week on a 12-hour shift, with a competitive tax-free stipend package.

Job Summary:

  • The Advanced Imaging Specialist will operate computed tomography (CT) scanners to perform diagnostic imaging procedures for patients.
  • They will ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process, preparing patients for scans and positioning them properly on the CT table.
  • The specialist will also review images for quality, ensuring they meet diagnostic standards, and work closely with radiologists to determine the best course of action.

Responsibilities:

Patient Preparation and Communication
  • Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure and answering any questions.
  • Verify patient information, including medical history and allergies, to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate imaging protocols.
  • Position patients properly on the CT table to obtain the necessary images.
  • Instruct patients on how to hold their breath or remain still during scans.
Operation of CT Equipment
  • Operate and calibrate the CT scanner, ensuring proper settings for each scan.
  • Administer contrast agents or dye injections under physician or radiologist guidance.
  • Monitor the equipment during imaging to ensure high-quality images are captured.
Image Quality and Review
  • Review CT images for quality, ensuring all required areas are captured and the images meet diagnostic standards.
  • Work closely with radiologists to ensure images are of sufficient quality to support diagnosis.
  • Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality or ensure comprehensive imaging coverage.
Patient Safety and Comfort
  • Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients.
  • Maintain a sterile, safe, and clean environment in the CT room.
  • Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent injury or discomfort during the scan.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Document patient information, scan parameters, contrast media used, and any complications in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in patient care planning to discuss how to best approach imaging in complex cases.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
  • Maintain, clean, and perform basic troubleshooting on the CT scanner and associated equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and calibration of CT equipment.
  • Keep accurate logs of equipment use, maintenance, and repairs.
Radiation Safety and Compliance
  • Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines.
  • Stay updated on changes to regulatory standards.
Documentation and Record Keeping
  • Accurately document imaging procedures and patient information.
  • Ensure all documentation is compliant with hospital policies and medical record-keeping regulations.
  • Assist with maintaining patient flow by providing quick turnaround times for imaging results.
