About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Engineer I to join our team at Boston Scientific, where you will have the opportunity to develop innovative products, materials, processes, or equipment in Structural Heart – Valves and Interventional Heart Failure within the Interventional Cardiology division.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Participate in and contribute to project teams, collaborating on activities such as product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations, report preparation, and process/test documentation.
  • Work independently to plan and schedule your activities necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Design and coordinate standard engineering tests and experiments.
  • Design, procure, and fabricate tooling and fixtures.
  • Perform troubleshooting on new products/process problems related to design, material, or process.
  • Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from test results.
  • Prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community.
  • Be responsible for engineering documentation.
  • Invent/conceive concepts and designs for new products/processes and submit idea disclosures.
  • May train and/or provide work direction to technicians.
  • Work cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
  • Demonstrate PDP/TPD system knowledge through delivery of high-quality deliverables.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Project experience and/or exposure with Design/Technical skills in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the fundamentals of Design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with catheter development, extrusion, or guidewire development.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Passion for understanding and solving problems for end users.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
