Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

The Production Technician 2 is responsible for executing a range of tasks related to field operations, production processes, and warehouse management to ensure the effective distribution of premium seed products.

Primary Duties:

  • Operate machinery and systems in alignment with site-specific protocols.
  • Utilize forklifts, manage pallet wrapping, and support systems including conditioning, packaging, and treatment processes.
  • Assist in overseeing field operations such as planting, monitoring, harvesting, and data collection.
  • Engage in field tasks such as rouging and detasseling as required.
  • Support process order tracking, administrative functions, maintenance requests, and production data management using various data systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date metrics and information on visual boards and data dashboards to foster teamwork and informed decision-making.
  • Notify senior technicians and management of any product or process discrepancies.
  • Exhibit knowledge of and compliance with the company's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards.
  • Adhere to internal protocols and assist in meeting legal compliance requirements relevant to the local area.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for performance enhancement in line with production objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to site Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols and Syngenta's HSE policies.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment to guarantee optimal functionality and promptly report any issues.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to work various shifts.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Able to lift and maneuver weights up to 70 pounds.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate production documentation.
  • Ability to effectively operate in designated areas of the facility, such as warehouse, packaging, and treatment zones.

Essential Success Factors:

  • Understanding of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a secure work environment.
  • Basic familiarity with relevant production software.
  • Knowledge of standard maintenance practices.
  • Proficient record-keeping of production documentation.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Introductory knowledge of SAP systems.
  • Ability to conduct inspections to ensure product quality.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
