Job Summary:
Quality Home Health is seeking a skilled Registered Physical Therapist to join our team. As a Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in restoring the handicapped to their fullest physical ability and supervising the Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and supervise Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants.
- Develop and implement care plans for patients.
- Prepare and complete all required documentation for visits and submit within 24 hours.
- Assist physicians in evaluating patients using diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint, and functional ability tests.
- Treat patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance using physical means such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
- Direct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait and functional training activities of daily living, including transfer activities and prosthetic training.
- Use equipment such as ultrasound, low-voltage generators, moist packs, ice packs, and percussion.
- Observe, record, and report patient reactions to treatment and any changes in the patient's condition.
- Instruct patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, prosthetic, and orthotic devices.
- Advise and consult with physicians on the recommendation and feasibility of these devices.
- Instruct other health team personnel, including RNs, LPNs, Home Health Aides, and family members, on certain phases of therapeutic exercises.
- Evaluate patient progress, determine the need for continuation or discontinuation, and notify physicians accordingly.
- Supervise and teach to improve practice within the company when indicated.
- Coordinate discharge planning with other disciplines.
- Refer to other disciplines as indicated.
- Conduct inservice programs as needed for other personnel.
- Attend inservices, seminars, or other meetings as assigned by the immediate Supervisor or other management.
- Maintain confidentiality of information related to business practices, business activities, and personnel.
- Maintain a professional attitude when working with staff, fostering a team philosophy and team environment for all personnel.
- Do not allow personal affairs to interfere with scheduled work time.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Provide proper notification and/or advanced notice of absence or tardiness without abuse.
- Participate willingly with special projects and/or overtime work when requested.
- Follow all agency policy and procedures.
