The University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UNL) is in search of an innovative and forward-thinking Chief Curator for the Sheldon Museum of Art.

With a rich history that began in 1888, the museum is looking for transformative leadership to steer a community and education-centered institution.

The museum operates under its mission:

Through our collections, exhibitions, and programs, the Sheldon Museum of Art fosters inquiry and discovery, serving the University of Nebraska, the state, and beyond.

Home to an exceptional collection of American, modern, and contemporary art, the museum is housed in a building of architectural significance, designed by the acclaimed architect Philip Johnson.

To strengthen its offerings, the Sheldon is committed to expanding its art collection of international repute and enhancing engagement with art through educational initiatives, exhibitions, and digital outreach.

The museum prioritizes the visitor experience, ensuring a welcoming and enriching learning environment for all diverse audiences who interact with its art.

The Sheldon Museum of Art has been on a trajectory of sustainable growth and increasing visibility.

The next Chief Curator will present a bold and inspiring vision for the museum's role within the university and its service to the broader public of Nebraska and beyond.

UNL has engaged Isaacson, Miller, a national executive search firm, to assist in the recruitment of the next Chief Curator for the Sheldon Museum of Art.
