POSITION OVERVIEW
The Urologist is tasked with delivering comprehensive urological services to patients, encompassing evaluation, treatment, care planning, and assessment of medical care. Adhering to federal and state regulations, the Urologist ensures superior patient interactions. This role involves the assessment and management of patients suffering from urological conditions, which may include procedures such as cystoscopy, transurethral surgeries, nephrectomy, vasectomy, varicocele treatment, advanced pediatric surgeries, pyeloplasty, and gender affirmation surgeries. Effective communication with fellow healthcare professionals, staff, and patients is essential to meet patient needs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage disorders of the genitourinary system, including conditions like erectile dysfunction, infertility, incontinence, bladder and prostate cancers, urethral stones, and premature ejaculation.
  • Review and document patient medical histories.
  • Order and analyze diagnostic tests, including prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings, to identify prostate cancer.
  • Conduct surgical procedures in the abdominal, pelvic, or retroperitoneal regions.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, such as x-ray machines and fluoroscopes, to assess the nature and severity of disorders or injuries.
  • Address lower urinary tract dysfunctions using advanced equipment, including diathermy machines, catheters, cystoscopes, and radium emanation tubes.
  • Prescribe or administer medications, including antibiotics and antiseptics, to treat infections or injuries.
  • Provide urological consultations to other healthcare providers.
  • Utilize non-traditional surgical methods for treating urological disorders, such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, laparoscopy, and laser techniques.

Qualifications

  • Active DEA License
  • Board certification or eligibility in Urology is required
  • Valid California Physician License
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Urology
