We are seeking a skilled Telemetry Technician to join our team at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a Telemetry Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our telemetry department.
Key Responsibilities- Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation: Accurately interpret cardiac rhythms of patients on in-house telemetry, identifying normal rhythms and recognizing basic arrhythmias.
- Patient Care Coordination: Provide safe patient care, obtain accurate patient data, and report patient findings in a timely and detailed manner.
- Communication and Teamwork: Maintain effective inter- and intra-departmental communications, interact positively with patients, families, physicians, and other disciplines, and promote a positive image by not participating in gossip.
- Equipment Maintenance: Provide routine maintenance to telemetry equipment, troubleshoot minor problems, and establish routine schedules for cleaning the telemetry area.
- Quality Improvement: Identify quality improvement issues in the telemetry department and contribute to resolving problems within your control.
- Customer Service: Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, meet the full range of customer needs, and handle information in a confidential manner.
- Education: High School graduate or completion of G.E.D.
- Certifications: Completion of Telemetry/Arrhythmia Course within 3 months of date of hire.
- Skills: Ability to provide total concentration on a number of monitors over an extended period of time, ability to interpret cardiac rhythm of patients on in-house telemetry, ability to respond to and communicate emergency situations, and basic computer skills.
- Act 34: Completion of telemetry/arrhythmia course within 3 months of date of hire.
