We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our dynamic float pool team at Scripps Health. As a PCA, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to patients in various departments, working closely with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of care.

Job Summary

This part-time, benefit-eligible position involves working 12-hour night shifts (48 hours every 2 weeks), 6:30pm - 7:00am. You will work varied days of the week, including weekends, and be required to have excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal care and assistance to patients with activities of daily living
  • Collect data and ensure patients have a safe and organized environment
  • Assist with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician
  • Support the unit with patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals
  • Ability to speak, read, and follow instruction in English
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare provider certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications

We also prefer candidates with:

  • One (1) year of acute care experience
  • Multiple patient care skills
  • C.N.A. Certification
