Land Survey Crew Chief Position

We are seeking a seasoned Land Survey Crew Chief to lead our survey projects in both private and public sectors. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of surveying principles.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing survey crews, overseeing project execution, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results. This is an office-based position with occasional fieldwork and client meetings required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead survey crews in land mapping and construction projects, including boundary and topographic surveys
  • Supervise field survey teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in survey tasks
  • Document all phases of survey work, maintaining quality control and adherence to project requirements
  • Familiarity with survey equipment such as total stations, GPS, and data collectors
  • Effective data management, including downloading and uploading survey data to/from the office
  • Read and interpret construction plans to inform survey operations
  • Locate property corners and landmarks accurately
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, owners, managers, and colleagues
  • Perform field duties, including digging holes for monuments, navigating rugged terrain, and obtaining utility invert information
Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or related field
  • Minnesota Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.) certification
  • Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Prior experience in land surveying, preferably in a leadership capacity, is highly desirable.
