Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Engineering Director, the HVAC Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the upkeep and repair of all HVAC systems within the Carillon Hotel Management facilities. This role involves performing preventive maintenance tasks that may require the operation of sophisticated and technical equipment. The technician is expected to demonstrate strong decision-making abilities and maintain high standards of productivity and professionalism. It is crucial to ensure that all work is conducted safely and that hazardous conditions are not tolerated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exemplify Carillon standards in service delivery to guests and staff.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, including dress code and professional conduct, while fostering a supportive environment among colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as hotel-specific protocols.
  • Follow established procedures for facility security and safety, actively working to identify and eliminate hazards.
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of critical systems, including fire detection and suppression, emergency power, and HVAC operations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks and monitor the performance of all HVAC systems, providing training to other staff as necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of necessary parts and tools, ensuring proper storage and usage.
  • Lead team members in the maintenance and repair of facility equipment, setting a standard for efficiency and professionalism.
  • Utilize the work order system effectively, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion of repairs.
  • Facilitate open communication between management and staff, adhering to confidentiality and information-sharing protocols.
  • Support the Hazard Communication Program, demonstrating knowledge of material safety data sheets and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Assist in planning and executing maintenance tasks while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Document all work activities and maintain records of performance and productivity.
  • Encourage team motivation towards achieving departmental goals.
  • Provide constructive feedback on the performance of team members.
  • Ensure all interactions with guests and staff are conducted with professionalism and a focus on hospitality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in facility maintenance within a hotel or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Expertise and certifications in multiple facility engineering disciplines, with proficiency in all relevant maintenance areas.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Experience in safely operating power tools and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Physical stamina to work in various weather conditions and handle equipment and materials.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Current certifications relevant to HVAC specialties.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
