Job Summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using automated and manual instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood and urine analysis, to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Monitor specimens and equipment to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  • Review and report test results, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain quality control data and resolve any quality control failures in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare reagents and take inventory, advising supervisors as necessary.
  • Assist with training new employees and provide leadership for laboratory technicians as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to infection control guidelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a physical science or medical technology preferred.
  • New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in laboratory and hospital information system computers, automated equipment, and other laboratory equipment.
