Overview

The Nursing Fellow role is designed for individuals seeking to advance their nursing skills in a supportive environment. This position is integral to the Medical Surgical department, where you will collaborate closely with experienced nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver direct nursing care following established protocols and in collaboration with registered nurses.
  • Assist in patient care, including monitoring and documenting patient needs, and communicating essential information to the healthcare team.
  • Support the documentation and execution of physician and nursing orders under the guidance of a registered nurse preceptor.
  • Implement and assess patient care plans, documenting any changes in patient conditions as necessary.
  • Engage in transition to practice programs to enhance clinical reasoning and judgment, ensuring safe and effective patient-centered care.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following:

  • Licensure / Certification: BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire. Registered Nurse credential from the Texas Board of Nursing required prior to employment.
  • Education: A diploma from an accredited nursing school or equivalent professional licensure at the time of hire.
