Job Summary:
The Nurse Manager at St. John's Riverside Hospital is a registered professional nurse responsible for the delivery of patient care in an outpatient setting. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and assess the nursing needs of patients and manage patient flow in the HOPE Center.
- Manage and administer the provision of nursing care to patients, ensuring adherence to standards of unit and department, as well as local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Responsible for the overall operation of the HOPE's medical and nursing program, including ongoing communication with clients, staff, and other departments to ensure the highest level of client/patient care.
- Perform management activities, including interviewing, hiring, evaluation, and termination of nursing staff (RN and Medical Assistant level) and assigned grant-funded programs.
- Direct and supervise staff, addressing program challenges in a proactive and solution-oriented manner.
- Provide clinical learning activities for all staff and ensure fiscal viability of the HOPE Center by implementing program changes to ensure services continue to be billable and paid by managed care, insurances, and grantors.
- Evaluate and improve overall nursing practice at the HOPE Center through participation in Department's Quality Improvement and Patient Center Medical Home efforts.
Qualifications:
- New York State Licensed Registered Nurse
- B.S.N required, M.S.N preferred
- Demonstrated competence in medical outpatient primary care settings (2-3 years clinical experience) with in-depth current knowledge in areas of clinical practice
- Ability to problem solve, communicate effectively, and organize resources appropriately
- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development
- Possesses well-developed and effective interpersonal skills and is able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Demonstrates confidence in actions and exercises good judgment
- Displays leadership ability and the willingness to assume authority and accountability for the direction and supervision of others
- Possesses the ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary for quality care
- Embraces and adapts to change
- Demonstrates ability to recognize problems, approach them in an objective manner, reach appropriate solutions, implement them, and evaluate for effectiveness
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of HIV-specific Performance Indicators
- Bilingual: Spanish/English is preferred
- Experience treating individuals living with HIV/AIDS
