Key Responsibilities- Patient Care: Provide and implement safe and effective patient care by assisting providers in examination and treatment of patients.
- Documentation: Record patients' current status, past medical history, vaccine status, vital statistics, and medication reconciliation in preparation for provider visit in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of patient records and use complete discretion when discussing patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Specimen Collection: Collect, label, and transport all specimens appropriately.
- Procedure Setup: Demonstrate proper techniques when setting up for procedures.
- Emergency Preparedness: Demonstrate knowledge of emergency and routine equipment and procedures.
- Patient Education: Collaborate with patient care planning and actively participate in education specific to patient diagnosis and needs.
- Medication Administration: Accurately administer medication, perform treatment in accordance with standards of care, and translate medications into pediatric doses.
- Abuse Identification: Identify victims and the process for reporting abuse.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance within department, clinic, and state and federal regulations and policies.
- Phone Interactions: Record all phone interactions with patients in the EMR.
- Instrument Care: Properly care for instruments, including cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing as appropriate.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in mandatory in-services, attend staff meetings, and follow MRH policy and procedures.
- Emergency Preparedness: Demonstrate knowledge of emergency preparedness and participate in drills.
- Resource Person: Act as a resource person to other staff members and provide positive and supportive team member to staff members and other departments within the organization.
- Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement teams or interdepartmental efforts.
- Liaison: Act as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Workload Management: Complete workload as assigned and perform other duties as assigned.
- Float: Float to other clinical departments as assigned.
- General Surgery Specialty: Obtain Wound Certification within six months of date of hire or transfer.
- Breath Alcohol Testing and Drug Screen Testing: Complete special training to perform these procedures.
- Commitment to CHOICE Values: Demonstrate commitment to performing according to the CHOICE values of MRH and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Patient Confidentiality: Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Regulatory Compliance: Uphold regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations and policies.
- Safe Environment: Follow all policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, public, and staff.
- Education and Training: Complete annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; attend departmental and organizational staff meetings or read meeting minutes.
- Attendance and Punctuality: Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timeframes.
- Communication: Establish and maintain effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff, and vendors.
- Initiative and Productivity: Utilize initiative; strive to maintain a steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manage activity and time.
- Performance Improvement: Actively participate in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
- Age and Citizenship: Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions) and able to legally work in the United States.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check.
- Drug Screen and Breath Alcohol Test: Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
- Employee Health Meeting: Must complete employee health meeting.
- Current RN License: Current Unencumbered Colorado RN license or Compact License.
- BLS Certification: Current BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
- Clinic Experience: One year clinic experience preferred.
