Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Housekeeping and Laundry Assistant to join our team at Sheldon Meadows Assisted Living Center. As a key member of our housekeeping team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our resident apartments and common areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize resident apartments, including dusting, vacuuming, and washing windows.
  • Empty resident waste baskets and check for any lost or misplaced items.
  • Clean and sanitize common areas, including the dining room, beverage area, lobby, and community room.
  • Dust and polish all furniture, lamps, and fixtures.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
  • Check furniture for debris, spots, and nicks, and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Empty trash and recyclables, and properly dispose of them.
  • Use safe and proper techniques for chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Properly store products, tools, and supplies.
  • Collect and sort laundry, and launder resident personal items according to label instructions.
  • Fold or hang laundry according to resident preference.
  • Iron as needed.
  • Return laundered items to residents promptly.
Requirements
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand, bend, twist, turn, stoop, squat, sit, kneel, pull, push, and walk long distances on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Able to perform physically repetitive work.
  • Able to tolerate exposure to cold and hot temperatures.
  • Able to work with strong smells and chemicals.
  • Able to operate equipment such as a vacuum cleaner, washing machine, clothes dryer, carpet cleaner, and steam iron.
  • Ability to move furniture and boxes.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with residents, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Emotional stability to appropriately handle resident care needs, including chronic illness, challenging behaviors, dementia-related issues, and death of residents.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, working 3-4 days a week and a rotating Saturday. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
