Behavioral Health Technician CNA

We are seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Technician CNA to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Orient patients and their families to the unit and hospital, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Escort patients to various locations, supervising and managing their behaviors as required.
- Perform vital signs and document observations in patient medical records.
- Communicate effectively with the RN and report significant or unusual occurrences in patient behavior.
- Defuse and report crisis situations, intervening when necessary and using proper procedures.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by assisting with groups, setting limits on patients, and following established safety and risk management policies.
- Perform patient rounding at designated intervals and document appropriately.
- Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry in which the team member practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.
- Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing Assistant.
- Successful completion of CPI's Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills within 90 days.
This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Must be physically able to restrain and control patients who are outwardly psychotic or physically combative.
May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
