Substitute Teacher

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Substitute Teacher to join our team at SCMCAA. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the education and well-being of our students.

• Assist and cooperate with teachers in carrying out developmentally appropriate activities for a Head Start classroom.
• Assist with the daily preparation and clean-up of lunches and snacks.
• Monitor children on the playground and accompany teachers and children on field trips.
• Promote health, safety, nutrition, and education of children in the classroom.
• Assist with meal planning and preparation, maintenance of food service areas, and provide meals and snacks to children.
• Assist with safe and punctual transportation to and from classroom sites.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and understand the Child Abuse and Neglect reporting policy.
• Agree to Standards of Conduct and sign Conduct Agreement.
• Sign Confidentiality Statement.
• Pass background screen, child abuse/neglect screen, drug screen, and be subject to random drug testing.

The Substitute Teacher will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, lifting 55 pounds, climbing into the school bus, bending, kneeling, and squatting frequently. The job requires standing for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting, running, and sitting in child-sized chairs and/or on the floor.

The Executive Director may reassign an employee from one position to another position at any time for disciplinary purposes, the utilization of personnel, or for the general good of the program.

This position is not exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
