Nuvance Health operates a network of accessible hospital and outpatient facilities across multiple locations.
Role Summary:
The Patient Care Technician I is responsible for delivering essential patient care services and non-professional support. This role involves addressing the personal, physical, and emotional needs of patients across various age groups, including neonates, children, adults, and the elderly, while ensuring alignment with the Nursing Department's philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Aids in the provision of patient care by executing specific tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse.
2. Assists with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and transportation.
3. Measures and records vital signs such as Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, Blood Pressure, Oxygen saturation, weights, and Blood Glucose levels, promptly reporting any abnormalities to the primary nurse.
4. Demonstrates proficiency in advanced skills, including oral suctioning, clean dressing changes after RN assessment, tube feeding setup, and post-mortem care.
5. Engages in effective communication with healthcare team members to share information and resolve issues positively and constructively.
6. Provides individualized care to patients and their families, identifying and documenting specific needs.
7. Utilizes educational resources and attends mandatory training to maintain and enhance unit competencies.
8. Ensures safe and efficient use of materials, equipment, and time.
9. Assists in emergency situations under the guidance of the Code Blue Team.
10. Complies with infection control protocols and safety policies, including the use of two identifiers when performing procedures.
11. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the unit, including treatment rooms and common areas.
12. Upholds the organization's core values: Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, and Honor.
13. Demonstrates consistent and reliable attendance.
14. Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- AHA BLS healthcare provider certification required within a specified timeframe.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of high school level subjects, including sciences and medical terminology.

- N/A
Work Type: Full-Time
Standard Hours: 40.00
Work Schedule: Night shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
