PROGRAM INITIATIVES

Our initiatives, such as the acclaimed Red Hook Community Justice Center, focus on innovative approaches to justice, including community violence prevention, alternatives to incarceration, and reentry support. We aim to achieve systemic improvements through our diverse programming, resulting in safer neighborhoods and enhanced community perceptions of justice.

RESEARCH AND EVALUATION

Our research teams, comprised of social scientists and data analysts, engage in comprehensive studies to evaluate justice programs and policies. We publish findings on critical issues, including court reform and restorative justice, ensuring our work is actionable and beneficial to the communities we serve.

POLICY SUPPORT

We offer strategic assistance to jurisdictions aiming to reform their justice systems, focusing on problem-solving courts and community-based initiatives. Our expert guidance includes data analysis, strategic planning, and policy development.

POSITION SUMMARY

The New Rochelle Justice Initiatives (NRJI) is dedicated to enhancing safety and opportunities for youth and young adults in the community. We are seeking an Outreach Worker to support this mission by mentoring and advocating for individuals impacted by the criminal justice system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and nurture relationships with justice-impacted individuals, employing transformative mentorship techniques.
  • Manage a caseload of participants, creating and executing personalized action plans.
  • Connect participants with community resources, including job training and educational programs.
  • Facilitate individual mentorship sessions and group workshops focused on gun violence prevention.
  • Engage with community members to identify and address local conflicts and violence.
  • Document all interactions and maintain accurate case records.
  • Collaborate with community partners and attend relevant meetings and training sessions.

LOCATION: New Rochelle, NY

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, with flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should possess a high school diploma and at least two years of relevant experience. Knowledge of mental health issues and community dynamics is essential. Experience working with youth in challenging circumstances is preferred. Strong communication skills and a commitment to community improvement are required.
