Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist II to join our team at Shipyard Staffing LLC. As a Machinist II, you will be responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, installation, and repairs on various equipment and systems onboard navy vessels, on job sites, and in the workshop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Remove, repair, overhaul, and align equipment associated with auxiliary systems such as condensers, compressors, pumps, forced draft blowers, main feed pumps, various types of valves, machine shop equipment, galley, and laundry equipment.
  • Perform pipe fitting, boiler installation/repair, insulating, welding, machining, mechanical and electrical repairs, carpentry and building repair.
  • Work effectively on a wide range of machinery/systems, identifying good work practices and work ethic, and lead, organize, instruct, and assign other individuals to perform these activities and practices.
  • Use a broad range of shipboard machinery and tools for inspection, disassembly, reassembly, installation, repair, and diagnosis/testing requirements and procedures.
  • Identify and use power tools, hand tools, and layout tools to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Read measuring devices to confirm finished work is checked for quality prior to job completion.
  • Perform duties as deemed necessary by supervisor/foreman.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required and 2 to 4 years of related experience or equivalent of training and experience in field.
  • Tech/Trade school certification preferred.
  • Ability to obtain job specific training/certifications, as required.
  • Must pass drug test and background check, and any job specific medical screening, as required.
  • Ability to gain access to military/government installations.
  • Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as required to meet job demands/requirements.
