We are seeking a part-time Certified Medical Administrative Assistant Instructor to teach students in both classroom and skills lab settings at Virginia Western Community College. The successful candidate will have expert-level skills and abilities necessary to pass the CMAA exam and possess knowledge of local and regional health care facilities and systems.
Responsibilities- Teach students in both classroom and skills lab settings to help ensure students gain the knowledge and skills required to pass the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam.
- Deliver established course curriculum, monitor student progress, transfer knowledge in support of certification preparation, troubleshoot classroom technical issues, and track equipment usage and inventory.
- Assess students for content mastery and skills proficiency and maintain student attendance and grades in accordance with established policies.
- May assist with content development and curriculum.
- Candidate must be or have been a medical assistant or medical front office staff member with at least one year of experience performing medical administrative assistant tasks.
- Associates degree in a related healthcare field.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments; as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Bachelor's degree in related healthcare field.
- Proven ability to provide instruction in accelerated formats geared towards certification exam preparation.
- Demonstrated track record of high level of student credential and institutional outcomes with the ability to deliver instruction in the classroom and in lab environments.
- Five years of work experience in a patient care setting in the clinical medical assisting or medical office field.
