Job Title: Paralegal

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Child Victims Act (CVA) Department in our Baltimore office. Our firm is committed to providing compassionate and effective legal services to survivors of abuse.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide case updates and gather information as needed.
  • Calendar Management: Organize and manage legal calendars, including scheduling court dates, meetings, and depositions.
  • Document Drafting: Draft legal documents such as motions, complaints, and other relevant court filings.
  • Discovery Management: Prepare and exchange discovery demands, responses, and authorizations.
  • Medical Record Handling: Obtain, review, and exchange medical records and other relevant case documentation.
  • Court Filings: File documents with the court, both electronically and in person, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Deposition Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule depositions with attorneys, clients, and opposing counsel.
  • Administrative Support: Provide additional administrative assistance as required to support the smooth functioning of the department.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 1-5 years of paralegal experience in a law firm environment, with a focus on personal injury, negligence, or medical malpractice cases preferred.
  • MDEC Proficiency: Experience with Maryland's Electronic Case Filing system (MDEC) is strongly preferred.
  • Certification: Paralegal Certification is preferred but not required.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to document preparation and case management.
