Crater Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Crater to join our team at Allen Industries Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and building various shipping containers.

• Design and fabricate wooden crates or boxes using woodworking hand tools and powered tools
• Read and interpret blueprints, shipping notices, and other specifications to determine materials needed and types of support and braces to be used
• Assemble materials using nailing or stapling machines, screws, bolts, glue, and hand tools
• Wrap and pad products to ensure safe transportation
• Build custom crates around large or odd-shaped articles
• Wrap and tighten metal bands around crates using banding equipment
• Attach proper identification labels on crates
• Protect equipment with neoprene or other protective coverings during shipments

• Knowledge of packing and crating procedures
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to lift 50 lbs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to read a tape measure

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent training, education, and experience
• One year of experience in crating, service, or similar industry; sign industry experience preferred
