Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Faculty - Clinical Educator to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a key member of our Education Department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing clinical education programs for our Emergency Department staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Safety: Ensure a safe environment for patients by following hospital policies and procedures, identifying potential safety risks, and reporting any concerns or incidents.
  • Clinical Education: Develop and implement educational programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of Emergency Department staff, including training on equipment, supplies, and national standards.
  • Staff Development: Provide ongoing education and support to staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Quality Improvement: Collaborate with other departments to identify areas for quality improvement and develop strategies to address these issues.
  • Communication: Establish and maintain effective communication with staff, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with a specialization in nursing or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 3 years of directly related experience, with a minimum of 5 years preferred.
  • Credentials: Current CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider certification, Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification, PALS, ACLS & PALS Instructor certification, CEVO Course completion, Arterial Blood Gas course completion, and UNMH basic arrhythmia course completion.
  • Physical Conditions: Heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
  • Working Conditions: Essential duties include working in a fast-paced environment, with potential physical risks and injuries due to combative patients, exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials, and the possibility of on-call duties.

  • EMS Instructor/Coordinator Certification
