Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Dorchester County Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating students with speech and language disabilities, determining their eligibility for Special Education services, and developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Speech Language Pathology Services: Provide high-quality speech and language therapy to qualified students, utilizing evidence-based practices and techniques.
  • IEP Development and Implementation: Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to develop and implement IEPs that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Screen, evaluate, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders in students from birth to 21 years of age.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with early intervention staff, special educators, general educators, administrators, and other school personnel to ensure understanding and consistent application of IEP goals.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant records on each child served, including progress reports and IEP documents.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance knowledge and professional growth in the field of speech-language pathology.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and maintain accurate data on student performance, including progress monitoring and outcome measures.
Qualifications
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC): Eligible for CCC certification or currently certified.
  • Therapeutic Materials and Technology: Ability to select and utilize therapeutic materials effectively, including Assistive Technology and Augmentative Communication Devices.
  • Communication and Human Relations Skills: Excellent communication and human relations skills, with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of the IEP team.
  • Writing and Organizational Skills: Good writing and organizational skills, with the ability to formulate concise clinical reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Experience and Education: Combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position.
