Behavioral Health Specialist

About the Role
- Provide client-level care, including conducting client assessments, making treatment plans, and providing support for clients during behavioral health services.
- Act as a support and advocate for clients, providing individualized treatment plans based on client needs and providing behavioral health services, including counseling, therapy notes, and social work documentation.
- Provide support for clients during crisis situations.
- Conduct routine screenings, follow up on symptoms/conditions, record symptoms/conditions into electronic health records, and coordinate referrals as needed.
- Provide mental health counseling and therapy as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Strong understanding of the principles of human behavior and development.
- Familiarity with community-based services for individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to build rapport with clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Work Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing clinical treatment to families and children, with experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Experience in the provision of assessment, diagnosis, service planning, care coordination, referral, and brief intervention services for various mental health conditions.
- Experience using electronic medical records, Microsoft Office products, and computers.
Education, Training, Certification and Licensure
- Required: Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field.
- Required: Current State of Oregon license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or LPC.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to interact with a variety of individuals at various levels under stressful circumstances while exercising sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of evidence-based approaches to brief intervention.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
- Knowledge and experience using the current DSM and/or ICD codes.
