The Taussig Cancer Institute features a specialized 36-bed Hematology/Oncology unit, dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients diagnosed with solid tumors and metastatic diseases.

As a Registered Nurse in the G70 Unit, your responsibilities will include:
  • Receiving specialized training to administer chemotherapy to patients.
  • Offering support to adult patients throughout their treatment journey.
  • Focusing on a diverse range of malignancies and hematologic conditions, from initial diagnosis to end-of-life care.
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
  • Integrating advanced treatment modalities for a complex oncologic patient population from admission to discharge.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care in line with established policies and protocols. Implement and monitor patient care plans, document patient conditions, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team. Evaluate and update care plans to meet expected outcomes, coordinate multidisciplinary care, administer medications, and address patient education needs.

Education Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Certifications:

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) is mandatory. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.

Additional certifications may be required based on the specific care setting.


Complexity of Work:
This role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a demanding environment.

Physical Requirements:
The position demands full body motion, including lifting and handling patients, with the ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids is inherent to the role.
