Key Responsibilities:
Management / Training:
- Acts as the primary contact for planning Total Store Events; leads the strategy and execution for customer engagement and sales initiatives, including product demonstrations and hospitality, in collaboration with the Store Leadership Team.
- Utilizes reporting tools to prepare and share key performance metrics and results with Store Management and Sales Team during regular meetings.
- Serves as a role model and leader to ensure exceptional customer experiences and hospitality throughout the Store.
- Ensures adherence to processes and protocols for all in-store sampling and sales activities.
- Acts as the Own Brand Ambassador for the Store; leads educational initiatives for our brands and products.
- Ensures departmental standards are met through daily inspections, training, communication, and accountability.
- Maintains open communication with all Department Managers, Store Leaders, and Sales Team Partners.
- Contributes to future event planning by sharing insights on food trends, customer preferences, and restaurant experiences; implements changes for improved future performance.
- Oversees the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and development of the H-E-B Sales Team, ensuring compliance with training requirements.
- Manages Partner performance, conducts performance evaluations, and addresses Partner-related issues including attendance, conduct, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for managing the department budget and payroll.
- Trains participants in the School of Retail Management (SORM) and School of Retail Leadership (SORL).
Sales:
- Enhances department performance by effectively driving sales and customer engagement through promotional events while managing shrink and product costs.
- Fosters a celebratory atmosphere by participating in Total Store Events, utilizing temporary decorations, creating themed recipes, and cross-merchandising.
- Develops weekly schedules to optimize customer engagement and sales.
- Plans, analyzes, and maintains promotional product orders and delivery schedules with Department Managers using inventory management tools to achieve sales goals.
- Leads display planning and maintenance for promotional events; ensures high standards of merchandising and signage are upheld; events are organized and clearly labeled.
- Completes and distributes necessary reports and documentation to ensure accurate accounting of departmental performance.
- Prepares event recaps for corporate administration regarding Customer Experience successes and areas for improvement.
- May conduct cart and/or cooking events, engaging Customers with enthusiasm while sharing product knowledge, recipes, and value information.
Food Safety / Sanitation:
- Ensures compliance with H-E-B, federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation standards.
- Provides necessary tools and training for Partners to operate the Department in accordance with the latest quality assurance guidelines.
- Maintains safety and sanitation of equipment and the Department; upholds sanitation standards throughout the work area.
- Establishes operational guidelines for the Department in accordance with 5S principles; conducts audits to ensure compliance.
- Maintains proper personal protective equipment for the Department.
- Ensures food safety certifications and other required certifications are current.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 (mandatory).
- Degree in culinary arts, nutrition, or home economics or H-E-B Culinary certification (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in event coordination, product demonstrations, sales, customer service, or a related culinary field.
- Experience in inventory management.
- Experience leading a team of five or more.
- Experience in catering, food presentation, large-scale cooking, ethnic cuisine, recipe development, etc. (preferred).
- Food Safety Certification.
- Completion of or ability to complete TABC Certification.
- Completion of H-E-B Connections Department SORM.
Do you have what it takes to excel as an In-Store Sales Leadership Manager at H-E-B?
- Strong knowledge of H-E-B systems and processes, including scheduling, recipe authoring, inventory management, product ordering, display planning, sales data systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of catering, food presentation, large-scale cooking, ethnic cuisine, recipe development, etc.
- Advanced customer service, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Advanced merchandising skills.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead a Department and effectively schedule Partners.
- Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects.
