Waste Management Technician

Clean Earth is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient management of hazardous waste at our Permanent Household Hazardous Collection Facility (PHHWCF).
Key Responsibilities- Operate the PHHWCF on Saturdays or work at a Temporary Household Hazardous Collection Facility (THHWCF) as needed.
- Unload hazardous waste from customers' vehicles and segregate wastes by hazard classification.
- Use hazardous categorization test methods to characterize unknown waste and determine hazard classification.
- Bulk liquid hazardous and non-hazardous waste (used motor oil and antifreeze).
- Package hazardous and non-hazardous (latex paint) waste for onsite storage and eventual transport for offsite disposal or recycling.
- Label waste containers and complete inventories of wastes stored onsite.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid state driver's license.
- Ability to operate a powered industrial truck, e.g., forklift, and possess a safe driving record.
- Effectively use tools and equipment necessary to perform duties, including combustible gas indicator (CGI), hazard categorization instruments, hazardous categorization kits, scales, hazardous materials research literature, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to wear company-provided personal protection equipment, including eye protection, steel-toed shoes, hard hat, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
- Ability to move or lift 50 pounds.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and RCRA Regulations.
- Basic chemistry knowledge.
