Indiana University Health is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to enhance our collaborative Cardiovascular Surgery team at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Position Overview:
This is a Full-Time role with Day Shift hours from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The position includes a shared call schedule (1:3) primarily for operating room needs, which may involve weekends. The role consists of approximately 85% inpatient and 15% outpatient responsibilities, working closely with a team of 2 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers. The expected patient volume ranges from 25 to 40 patients per week.
Core Responsibilities:
As a key member of our healthcare team, you will:
- Deliver comprehensive care to patients with cardiovascular and thoracic conditions, including malignancies, valve disorders, and other cardiovascular ailments.
- Co-manage preoperative and postoperative care for hospitalized patients.
- Assist with triage for patient inquiries via phone.
- Participate as a first assistant in the operating room.
- Conduct endoscopic vein harvesting procedures.
- Manage chest tubes and wound care.
- Perform thoracentesis and insert arterial lines.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A Master's degree.
- ACNP or PA certification.
- A minimum of 3 years of surgical advanced practice provider experience.
- Preferred experience in surgical cardiology or cardiovascular surgery.
- Proficiency in endovenous harvesting and first assistant skills in the operating room.
