Job Title: Lateral Jail Deputy

Washington County, OR is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lateral Jail Deputy to join our team. As a Lateral Jail Deputy, you will be responsible for supervising those in custody and maintaining jail security, as well as admitting, transporting, and controlling the movement of those in custody.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise those in custody and maintain jail security
  • Admit, transport, and control the movement of those in custody
  • Handle jail emergencies and unusual situations as they arise
  • Maintain the classification system
  • Tend to personal needs of those in custody
Requirements:
  • Current Certification: Possess a Basic Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) certification or equivalent local, state, or federal certification as a Corrections Officer or Jail Deputy
  • Training: Successfully completed a Field Training Program
  • Experience: At least one year of full-time equivalent (2080 hours) work experience as a certified law enforcement professional
Benefits:
  • Merit Increases: Salary step increases granted upon satisfactory performance and completion of 26 qualified pay periods
  • Bilingual Pay: $75 per pay period
  • Incentive Pay: 2 to 8% for a combination of certification levels, training, college education, and years of service
  • Premium Pay for various special assignments
  • Overtime and/or compensatory time allowances for overtime, callback, and court appearance
  • Uniform, including initial tailoring, duty gear, and firearm
  • Clothing allowance - $75 per month, if assigned to plain clothes duty full-time
  • Footwear allowance - $150 per year
