Job Summary
At VHP Community Health Center, we are seeking a skilled Optometric/Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing patient care activities, including recording chief complaints, medical history, and reviewing medications.
The Optometric/Ophthalmic Assistant will prepare examination and treatment rooms, perform testing, and assist the provider with preliminary work, laser procedures, and injections. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work successfully in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Record patient information, including chief complaints, medical history, and medications
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms
- Perform testing and assist the provider with procedures
- Provide patient education and review treatment plans
- Ensure patient receives a professional and pleasurable experience
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience and/or training
- BLS certification upon hire
- Work toward Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Paraoptometric Certification
