Educational Background and Experience Criteria
A High School Diploma or GED is essential. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the avionics or electrical field is required, or alternatively, two (2) years of accredited education in aviation electronics coupled with two (2) years of relevant experience. An A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license is preferred, along with other certifications such as FCC and NCATT. Purpose of the Position: This role provides technical proficiency in evaluating aircraft systems, diagnosing issues, and rectifying discrepancies to minimize schedule disruptions. The technician will showcase their technical acumen by implementing process improvements aimed at reducing costs while adhering to safety and quality standards. This position may involve acting as a substitute for the Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician, ensuring that the company's safety and quality objectives are consistently met while following daily operational plans to fulfill schedule obligations.
Job Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exhibit technical capabilities and knowledge in avionics and aircraft systems testing and troubleshooting.
- Conduct the installation and functional testing of electrical and avionics components and systems on aircraft in accordance with engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals to ensure a flawless system.
- Guarantee the quality and efficiency of all installations by troubleshooting processes to deliver timely and effective repairs of malfunctioning systems.
- Demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge to efficiently repair or replace defective components and wiring, ensuring that installations comply with standards. Utilize effective repair techniques, including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring.
- Execute and adhere to engineering modifications and changes as necessary.
- Set up and operate required testing equipment. Perform functional and operational tests to assess performance and reliability.
- Ensure that all work performed on the aircraft is thoroughly documented and prepared for inspection.
- Test and maintain testing equipment, electronic systems, and components.
- Adhere to the company's FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program, and all safety regulations.
- Adapt to unexpected schedule changes.
- In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may involve flight tests on aircraft as necessary.
- Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines beyond avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural installations and repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Excellent communication skills are essential. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must be capable of climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
