Fairview Senior Living is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Music Therapist to join our team. As a Music Therapist, you will provide clinical and evidence-based music interventions to residents across various care levels, including skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, rehabilitation, and memory care.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate Therapy Sessions: Lead group and individual music therapy sessions for residents in skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, rehabilitation, and memory care settings.
- Design and Adapt Interventions: Develop and modify music interventions based on the evolving needs of the resident population.
- Assessment and Treatment Planning: Administer formal music therapy assessments, evaluate residents' potential for benefit from therapy, and create individualized treatment plans with clear musical and non-musical goals.
- Documentation: Accurately document observations, responses, and progress following all therapy sessions. Maintain daily, monthly, and quarterly progress notes, and adjust goals as necessary.
- Collaborate with Care Teams: Participate in weekly interdisciplinary care team meetings to evaluate resident needs and develop strategies for critical cases.
- Data Presentation: Present data on quarterly progress, stagnation, and areas for improvement in quality assurance meetings.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of all resident information.
- Telehealth Facilitation: Provide telehealth sessions as needed to maintain continuity of care during quarantine or other protocols.
- Infection Control: Follow strict infection control protocols, including cleaning all therapy instruments and managing any soiled materials.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuing education through certification requirements, applying current music therapy practices and advancements.
- Musical Accompaniment: Offer musical accompaniment for facility-wide events and activities as requested.
- Schedule Coordination: Work with activities directors to adjust the music therapy schedule in accordance with the facility's monthly activities calendar.
- Manager on Duty: Volunteer for at least two Manager on Duty (MOD) weekends every six months, adhering to the duties outlined by the Director of Nursing.
- Skill Development: Continuously improve skills in guitar, piano, percussion, and voice.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in an accredited Music Therapy program.
- An understanding of providing music therapy to individuals with dementia, with the ability to tailor interventions and customize approaches to enhance cognitive function, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life, all delivered with respect and empathy.
- Current MT-BC status through the Certification Board for Music Therapy.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Ability to make independent decisions when needed.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with residents, family members, staff, and visitors.
