Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at the YMCA of Central Ohio. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our members and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the facility is well-maintained and cleaned, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming assigned areas.
  • Clean and sanitize lavatories, showers, wash basins, and other high-touch areas.
  • Collect and remove scrap and refuse as necessary and directed.
  • Assist with routine general maintenance, such as simple room setups and moving furniture.
  • Access computer to print and record Facility Dude work order information.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintain cleaning equipment as directed.
  • Responsible for strict adherence to all Branch line policies and procedures related to equipment, chemical safety, employee conduct rules, and other regulations.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Must have at least one year of custodial experience.
  • Must have the ability to follow instructions and work with little or no supervision.
  • Must have knowledge of methods of maintaining, cleaning, and preserving a variety of surfaces.
  • Must possess a passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people, and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear; stand, walk, crouch, climb ladders and stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms to use standard cleaning equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
