Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Patent Attorney to join our Intellectual Property team at Corteva Agriscience. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing patent landscapes, advising clients on freedom to operate and patentability considerations, and developing and implementing IP strategies. If you have a strong background in quantitative genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, breeding, or a related bioinformatics computer science discipline, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Freedom to Operate analysis and advice
  • IP portfolio development and management
  • U.S. patent drafting and prosecution
  • Patent administrative proceedings, including IPRs, PGRs, and Reexams
  • Invention development and education
  • Patentability and landscape analysis
  • Intellectual property transactions and agreements
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) from a reputable institution in a relevant field
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school, admission to at least one State Bar in good standing, and Registered to Practice before the USPTO
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in drafting and/or prosecuting patent applications as a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney, preferably in a law firm
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and proactively
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality patent applications and prosecution submissions
