Histology Technologist/Mohs Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technologist/Mohs Technician to join our team at Meadville Medical Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing histotechnology support to our fellowship-trained MOHS surgeon.

• Prepare and process histologic specimens for microscopic evaluation and review by the MOHS surgeon.
• Operate the laboratory according to all standards set forth by OSHA, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies.
• Communicate effectively with the Medical Practice Manager, Physicians, and other co-workers in a positive and appropriate manner.
• Perform daily and weekly maintenance on all laboratory equipment, including the cryostat, stainer, fume hood, and eye wash station.
• Responsible for calibration and troubleshooting as needed on the equipment.
• Maintain and file surgical slides.
• Update laboratory procedures and protocols as needed.
• Participate in staff development and education.
• Use appropriate measures of Infection Control, including PPE and hand washing.
• Use Meditech, Medisoft, and Medisoft Clinical EMR.
• Follow the appropriate chain of command for reporting issues.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrate professionalism at all times.

• Minimum of two years of prior related experience in histology or Mohs laboratory.
• Licensed histotechnologist or Mohs technician is preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely handle hazardous materials.
• Manual dexterity required to handle equipment and tissue specimen.
• Good hand and eye coordination and visual acuity required.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.
