Calibre CPA Group is in search of a Financial Audit Associate for our Chicago office. In this role, you will collaborate with seasoned professionals on various audit assignments. Your initial responsibilities will include assisting in the examination of specific financial statement accounts, documenting accounting systems and internal controls, preparing relevant audit work papers, and aiding in the formulation of financial statements and management letters.

Compensation Range: $62,000 - $65,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Acquire fundamental technical knowledge with a strong emphasis on on-the-job learning as you transition between audit engagements.
- Assist in the examination of specific financial statement accounts; the complexity of assigned tasks will increase with experience.
- Document accounting systems and internal controls effectively.
- Prepare audit work papers that are comprehensive, indexed, cross-referenced, and easily understandable, enhancing the quality of work papers from previous years.
- Address audit issues by gathering evidence and conducting inquiries with clients.
- Become familiar with standard auditing procedures (Calibre standard audit programs) and execute tasks in accordance with Firm standards (utilizing Calibre standard work papers) accurately and promptly.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors to resolve engagement-related issues in a timely manner.
- Identify and communicate accounting and auditing concerns to senior auditors, managers, directors, principals, and partners.
- Address open review notes thoroughly and promptly, and assist in post-fieldwork wrap-up as needed.
- Prepare client tax returns (Forms 990 and 5500).
- Maintain an organized list of open items.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is mandatory.
- Accounting GPA must be 3.0 or above.
- Active pursuit of CPA license is advantageous.
- Familiarity with accounting software is a plus (e.g., QuickBooks, ProSystem, GoFileroom).
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, GAAP, and GAAS.
- Prior experience in accounting is not required but is beneficial.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
