We are seeking a skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team at Dollar General. As a key member of our Private Fleet Team, you will be responsible for ensuring all trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are in working order and compliant with federal standards.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair truck, trailer components, including doors, floors, side panels, electrical, and air brake systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on tractor and trailer equipment, including routine technical repairs and completing repair orders.
- Perform maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, lift-gates, and company-owned equipment.
- Abide by all Company policies and safety rules, and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues.
- Maintain repairs for class 8 trucks, trailers, and yard tractors.
- Safely operate gauges, forklifts, shunt truck, torches, grinders, and various hand and power tools.
- Perform DOT inspections and compliance.
- Ability to work unsupervised, make decisions as needed.
- Effective communicator and team player.
- Heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanic skills.
- Experience working with air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Prior welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Tire repair experience (repair, mounting, dismounting) preferred.
Conducts some repairs in odd positions and/or confined or close spaces. Work is performed under changing climatic conditions of extreme heat and cold. Walking long distances; sitting or standing for long periods of time. Bending, stooping, squatting, or kneeling on a repetitious basis. Fast-paced environment. Exposure to noise and heights.
