At Northern Light Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team in the Emergency Department at Mayo Hospital.

About the Role:

  • As a CNA, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of an RN, ensuring the highest level of quality and safety for our patients.
  • You will also perform administrative tasks, including unit receptionist duties, transcribing physician orders, maintaining records, and ordering supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Precept and mentor new staff and students to ensure seamless onboarding and development.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the healthcare team, fostering a culture of collaboration and respect.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, conveying pertinent information to supervisors, nursing staff, and medical providers efficiently and effectively.
  • Integrate skills taught in special classes, including People-Based Patient Safety, Crucial Conversations, AIDET, and Managing Violent Patients.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner that aligns with the mission and values of Northern Light Health, promoting a positive work environment and respectful interactions with peers and departments.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations, including fire, code blue, code gray, and Plan Triage.
  • Accurately transcribe orders based on patient need, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Maintain adequate levels of office supplies, unit nourishments, and promptly put away such supplies in their designated places.
  • Accurately assemble and verify completeness of medical charts.
  • Accurately file test results and other data on patient charts.
  • Accurately maintain the patient logbook and daily census.
  • Acknowledge errors, correct them, and notify affected departments in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in entering patient information and physician orders.
  • Avoidance of procrastination and responsiveness- multiple opportunities for patient’s feedback/suggestions to improve his/her care.
  • Promote independence among patients by performing ADL care accordingly and assisting in transfers using proper techniques.
  • Clean and maintain the patient environment to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Assist patients in ambulation, wheelchair, or stretcher transfers using proper techniques.
  • Monitor patient condition and report objective findings to the RN as needed.
  • Participate in bedside shift reporting with the patient, family, and oncoming shift.
  • Perform procedures within the CNA scope of responsibility according to hospital policy.
  • Acknowledge and consistently document care provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Answer patient call bell phone.
  • Actively participate in unit Quality Assurance measures.
  • Identify and report quality/safety issues in patient care to the unit manager.
  • Assign staff and patient rooms using Vocera interface for the Nurse Call system.
  • Schedule outpatients in Outlook Calendar.
  • Enter Outpatient charges in CPSI.
  • Scan patient charges into CPSI.

Requirements:

  • Required: Certified Nursing Assistant credential.
  • Education: No minimum requirement.

Estimated Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year.
