The Yankee Candle Company is seeking a dedicated Project Manager for our Outdoor and Recreation (O&R) division. This role is pivotal in enhancing product affordability while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, five-star rated products. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments including Brand, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and Suppliers to achieve significant cost savings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead initiatives aimed at achieving a minimum of 1% reduction in annual cost of goods through strategic cost-saving measures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within O&R to:
    • Facilitate regular brainstorming sessions to cultivate a strong pipeline of cost-saving ideas.
    • Assess the feasibility, business impact, and return on investment of proposed ideas.
    • Secure alignment to advance projects through the necessary approval stages.
    • Create detailed timelines for project execution.
    • Organize recurring meetings and communications to ensure project momentum.
    • Work closely with engineering teams on design and manufacturing processes.
    • Overcome obstacles to ensure successful project completion.
    • Prepare and present monthly VAVE business reports.
    • Engage with other VAVE leaders to share and implement best practices.
    • Uphold the core values of Yankee Candle, emphasizing ownership, execution, and teamwork.
    • Acknowledge and celebrate both individual and team achievements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in leading cost reduction or VAVE initiatives.
  • A strong passion for driving business outcomes.
  • Ability to constructively challenge existing norms while fostering positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Basic knowledge of product costing and financial return models.
  • Demonstrated success in a matrixed organizational structure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a portfolio of VAVE savings exceeding $1 million annually.
  • A diverse professional background with varied roles.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Manufacturing products and contract manufacturing with a diverse international supplier network.
    • Plastic molding, metal forming, textile production, or assembly processes.
    • Influencing cross-functional peers effectively.
    • Consumer product design, manufacturing, or testing.
  • Willingness to travel by air up to 15% for supplier visits as necessary.
