Position Overview

The Clinical Pharmacist is integral in overseeing medication management to guarantee safe, rational, and economical therapy while complying with all applicable regulations and standards established by Federal, State, and accrediting authorities.

The Clinical Pharmacist adheres to departmental protocols and strives to meet departmental goals.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Review and process medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and effectiveness during the order fulfillment process
  • Ensure the precise preparation of both compounded and non-compounded pharmaceutical products while following safety guidelines
  • Supervise the dispensing operations of the pharmacy department to ensure prompt availability of medications
  • Oversee the activities of pharmacy technicians and support personnel as necessary
  • Maintain the security of the pharmacy inventory
  • Identify and mitigate potential adverse medication events
  • Provide medication education to improve patient comprehension
  • Collaborate effectively with the pharmacy team, healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers
  • Engage in various pharmacy initiatives including medication safety, quality assurance, and drug evaluations
Licensing and Certification
Maintain a valid pharmacist license in the relevant state(s)

Possess a valid state-issued identification

Preferred: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Immunization Certification

Educational Background
Graduate from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS or PharmD

Preferred: Advanced pharmacy qualifications such as Doctor of Pharmacy, Masters, or Residency

Professional Experience
Required: Experience in pharmacy practice

Preferred: A minimum of one year of experience in pharmacy practice

Training Requirements
Proficient in the use of computer hardware and software

Work Environment
May encounter periods of high stress and varying workloads

General office setting

Potential exposure to hazardous materials

May experience frequent interruptions

Travel to off-site locations may be necessary

Extended periods of independent work may be required
