Job Summary

Vaco is seeking a highly skilled Tax Accountant to join our team. As a Tax Accountant, you will play a critical role in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings, including income, property, and sales & use tax. You will also perform research as issues arise and assist in all areas of tax department activity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of apportionment schedules, return preparation, return software compliance, and estimated payments for state income tax.
  • Support the preparation and filing of property tax returns, including aircraft reporting, return preparation, and review, allocation schedules, assessment review and payment, and reconciliation of property tax liability accounts.
  • Prepare and file sales & use tax returns, including monthly returns and workpaper preparation.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of federal income tax returns, including return software compliance and estimated payments.
  • Research state and local tax issues, document conclusions, and answer internal questions from companies regarding various types of tax.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties necessary to support the function of the tax department.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a relevant field and 2+ years of experience in corporate tax preparation, preferably at a public accounting firm.
  • Experience with corporate tax preparation software and forms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software and email.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software, including CCH Prosystem FX.
  • Experience with research software, including BNA and CCH.
  • General Ledger Package experience, including SAP.
  • Excel proficiency.
Preferred Skills
  • Airline tax experience is a plus. The candidate should have federal and multi-state income tax experience and sales tax experience.
